The new skirt/dress trend and how to wear it

The new skirt / dress trend
The new skirt / dress trend

Every season there's at least one ridiculous trend that gets picked up by bloggers. Socks and sandals? Yup, that was the last one. Now it's all about the skirt over dresses - and it's not as impractical as you might think. I'm one of those girls that don't like to whack my legs out all the time, but a good skirt does crop up on the blog every so often when I'm in the mood. Example: above. I've had this shirt dress in my wardrobe for a few months now but sometimes find it difficult to style - it's not quite long, not quite short. But alas, this new hybrid of skirt-come-dress is giving my Motel beauty a brand new lease of life. Silly trend? I like to think of it as smart layering.

An attempt at cocktail dressing

Dressing for some form of date night/cocktail hour has always been something I've struggled with, probably because the majority of my wardrobe is hardly appropriate for such a formal occasion. So alas, this is the best I can do. A pair of semi-heeled boots (for ease of stumbling through the streets, of course), a midi skirt that's two sizes too big and my usual leather/black top-half combo. The verdict? It might not be as comfy as the sweats, but then again who am I to care after a few delicious Bordeaux Wines?

The title of this blog post might attract the wrong 'clientelle' if you will, so to all those who have come here for tips on how to dress in the bedroom for you master: I'm sorry to disappoint you. Anyway, let's all address the elephant in the room here - I'm wearing a skirt from a bondage shop. Now, shopping for daywear in sex shops isn't something I tend to do that often (no really, I promise) but when I saw this little - and I do mean little - skirt in the window I couldn't say no. Of course, I opted for a few sizes up to maintain at least some of my dignity, but bending down is a real no no in this skirt. Skirt? Can I even call it that? It's more like a piece of rubber wrapped around my bum if you ask me. Either way, I can now officially say I've worn bondage out in public..althought it probably doesn't look as NSFW as one might imagine..

THIS is my current attempt at summer dressing, kind of. Even though I love the heat I absolutely hate dressing for hotter climates - especially considering 99% of my wardrobe is either a) outerwear or b) leather. I'm hardly beach ready. Saying that, I must be bearing at least 30% skin in this look, which is sure-fire improvement.

Let me know how you dress for summer in the comments below!
