I won't lie to you guys. When it comes to diets, detox teas, and meal replacements I'm always somewhat...dubious, to say the least. More often than not, I find that all of the above either work (but taste awful) or taste great, but do absolutely nothing for my appetite..or my non existent abs. But saying that, I'll give anything a good go. Especially when I'm expected to shoot bikini pics in Spain in just three weeks time - which is pretty much what happened around a month ago. It was t-minus one month until our trip to Spain and I still hadn't started that health kick I intended on starting, well, last year. I know, I know, size doesn't matter and all that jazz, but sometimes it's nice to shed a few pounds in preparation for lounging around the pool.
I've been toying with the idea of meal prep for a while now, but getting a professional to do it is far too expensive and in all honesty I just don't have the time, skills, or fridge space to do it myself. And so when I came across the So Shape challenge - a plan that's easy to follow (and it turns out, even easier to stomach) I decided to give it a shot.
There are three plans to choose from: The three week, two week and the five day plan. And with just three weeks until my holiday I decided to give the two week challenge a good old go. No excuses, no nothing. If I was going to do this, I was going to do it right (and without secret snacking half way through the week). The So Shape plan consists of 22 different meals and flavours, including everything from Cheese pasta to Salted
Caramel to French Garden Soup, so it's safe to say there's something for everyone. Every sachet is low in fat and sugar, but high in protein, which means you'll be kept full until your next meal. They're also meat and gluten free, if that's your thang. Another thing I liked about this plan was that I was allowed to eat whatever I wanted for lunch, so I still had a lot of variation in my diet throughout the week.
That being said, I didn't really feel like I even needed it half the time. Those sachets may look small, but I couldn't believe how filling they were! After scoffing my pasta in the evening I was usually stuffed right up until the next day. But I think the best part of my So Shape 2 week challenge was how everything tasted. I had a choice of the salted caramel, raspberry, speculoos, pesto pasta, cheese pasta and tomato soup and I honestly loved ALL OF THEM! My favourite had to be the pesto pasta as it tasted great, but had actual pasta pieces as well so I didn't even feel like I was eating something remotely healthy. My kinda diet.
Two weeks later and I scoffed my last sachet of soup (yum) and took to my phone to compare my before and after pictures. I knew I'd felt lighter on my feet for the past week or so but didn't quite realise the difference in my waist line. I've always struggled with bloating in the past but this completely flattened my stomach like nothing else but - above all - I actually felt better too.
