My every day skincare routine

Skincare has always been a really important part of my beauty routine. Over the years, I've begun to experiment more and more with makeup, but despite favouring more of a full face glam I've never neglected to look after my skin. I'm a firm believer that beauty starts from the inside out, and that if you look after your base, your makeup will glide on effortlessly and flawlessly. And hey, if it keeps me looking younger for longer then that's a plus too.

I absolutely adore makeup, but I know it's not the best thing to put on my skin - which is where a good cleanser comes in handy. I tend to opt for either balms or oils these days, as I find they're the best at removing everything from waterproof mascara to stubborn liquid lipsticks. A  favourite of mine is bareMinerals' Total Cleansing Oil as it's light weight, but packs a real punch as far as removing my makeup is concerned. It's one of those cleansers that can take you from full-face to fresh-faced in an instant. Personally, I'm a big fan of double cleansing, which this oil is perfect for. One wash gets rid of makeup, the next gets rid of the dirt. As far as toners go, I tend to switch things up a little depending on my current skincare concern. Right now, I just tend to use the Garnier Micellar Water to remove excess oils and remaining makeup. It's also a life saver for late nights and long-hauls..

When it comes to keeping my skin hydrated I do try (emphasis on the word 'try') and drink as much water as possible to ensure I'm hydrated from the inside out. However I still like to slather on face creams as if my life depends on it. I'm not overly loyal to any particular moisturiser - all I ask is that it's nourishing and works well as a base under makeup. A little bit of SPF doesn't hurt either. A few of my favourites right now are the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base and the Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream for day, and the Clarins Multi-Active Nuit for the night. They all tend to keep any dry skin at bay, but for when I need a little extra TLC I look to exfoliators to sort out the situation. Every few days I use either the Vanity Planet Spin for Perfect Skin brush (use the code 'cocochic' for 70% off!) with my cleanser or a glycolic acid like Pixi's Glow Tonic to get rid of dead skin. Way less scary than it sounds, but so, so good.

It's hard to believe that on my next birthday I'm going to be celebrating hitting a quarter of a century. I've gone through the majority of my life begrudging my baby face, but as I get older I've realised it's a blessing - and one that I don't plan on taking for granted. I'm sure a lot of it is down to genetics, but I'm not taking any chances, and so recently I've been using a lot of tricks and treatments to help keep wrinkles at bay for as long as humanly possible. An on-going favourite of mine is the Sunday Riley Luna Oil - a retinol based oil that I apply to the skin around every other night. Retinol is known for it's anti-aging properties, and after a few months of using it (yes, it does take time!) I've definitely started to notice a positive change in my skin's texture. I'm also partial to a hydrating sheet mask or two, but for when blemishes quite literally rear their ugly heads I opt for a charcoal based product like the L'Oreal Detox Mask,
